Toyota Fortuner in India

The much awaited Toyota Fortuner is all set to make its debut in India. The company has kept Indian customers waiting for this model for quite some time now. However, the company is set to launch the car somewhere in late 2009 (perhaps June-September 2009). The new Fortuner in India will be a facelift model of an existing one that has been recently launched in Malaysia. It is an impressive machine that can take anyone's fancy and will be priced somewhere between Rs. 16-18 lakh.

The car has been built on IMV platform similar to Toyota Innova and will be assembled at the Bidadi factory of Toyota in Bangalore. It would be available in 2.7V Petrol & 2.5G Diesel variants. The petrol version will have 4-cylinder, in-line 16-valve, DOHC, VVT-i engine whereas the diesel one would have DOHC Turbo diesel. Both the variants would come with only auto transmission in its 2009 face lifted version.

Being a Toyota model, the car will assure foolproof reliability and excellent road stability. It will compete with Honda CRV, Chevrolet Captiva and similar models.
